Dear Valley View Parents, Guardians, Students, Staff, and Community,

Time continues to fly by this year.  We are currently working on Credit Check #6.  We are so pleased with the progress our wonderful students are making this year.  There are a number of important things occurring in the coming weeks, so it is important that we all stay focused on our primary goals.

First, our juniors have already taken the Early Assessment Program Essay.  I am very proud of the way our students approached this test.  They were serious and hard-working, and I feel that this sets the right tone for the other tests that we still need to tackle.  The next test is the California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE), which is scheduled for March 18 and 19.  Our seniors are the only students who will be taking this test.  Since this test is being given during our Spring Break, it will be held at Alta Loma High School.  Information about this test was distributed to the seniors during the February CAHSEE test.  Please stop by the guidance office if you need further information.

The Smarter Balance tests will begin the last week of March when we return from Spring Break.  Fifty students at a time will be pulled out of class to take this test, so it will continue through April.  Our goal is to test in small groups, so students will be working with optimal testing conditions.  During these weeks, attendance is extremely important.  I am excited to see how our students perform on this new assessment.  Finally, we have an API score of 535.  Our goal is to significantly increase our students’ academic skills.  With everyone working together, students’ scores will be reflected in the next API score.

Vision Statement

Valley View High School will be a California School of Excellence by the year 2017
