Congratulations Vikings! As of the end of the third credit check of the year, you are making excellent progress towards your goals. We have had an average of 10 credits per student in all three credit checks, with a high of 33 credits in one credit check. That is incredible progress! Whether your goal is to graduate from Valley View or return to your home school, you are all making great strides in making that goal a reality.
With only three weeks left until Winter Break, I’d like to encourage you to keep your eyes on your goals and continue to work as hard as you have so far this year. Take advantage of the time you have with your teachers to assist you and continue to earn credits. I hope you all realize how much you are capable of and will take advantage of the time you have for Winter Break. You can use some of that time to work independently and earn even more credit. Please be sure to talk to your teachers so they can make the adjustments to allow you to work smoothly during the break.
Please remember that we do not follow a typical final exam schedule at Valley View, so every day until December 19th is a day that you can take care of business and make even more progress. December 19th will be a minimum day.
Most of all, I want to express how proud I am of our students and staff for everything you have accomplished this semester. I hope you enjoy your holiday and the time you will have to spend with your loved ones. I am very excited to welcome you back on January 6, 2014 and see what the New Year brings.
May you have the happiest of holidays and a joyful New Year!
Valley View High School will be a California School of Excellence by the year 2017

Dear Parents and Students,
We are off to a great start for the new school year. It is an exciting time to be a Viking! Our students returned to find many opportunities awaiting them. We have new technology and a program that has been expanded to provide additional opportunities to earn credit and find the right path to graduation.
Valley View students are making the most of the opportunities available to them. With an expanded day, students are earning credits, and I’m already making classroom visits to celebrate their progress. We are recognizing and encouraging motivation with a Smartie candies for credits earned. I would like to encourage our students to keep up the good work.
I’d like to invite parents and students to see your counselor or an administrator if you have any questions or concerns. We’d like to address these questions immediately, and not lose any learning opportunities because of unanswered questions. There will be a great opportunity to meet our counselors, teachers, and administrators at our Back-to-School Night on September 17th at 7:00 p.m.
I’m delighted to announce our estimated API (Academic Performance Index) score grew by 25 points. This follows an increased score of 33 the previous year. I’d like to thank our dedicated staff and hardworking students for all they’ve done to show our strengths. We can all be proud of this achievement!
Our goals for this school year are to continue to improve academic achievement and improve classroom instruction. With our new blended instruction program, we are anticipating a high level of achievement as teachers work to help every student reach the goal of a high school diploma.
We are so happy to welcome our returning and new students to Valley View High School. We have many opportunities for students to learn, grow, earn credit, and keep their post-high school goals at the forefront.
With Viking Pride,
Mr. Goldstein, Principal
