Dear Valley View Students and Families,
The school year is flying by quickly, and there are a number of events that will occur over the course of the next 2 ½ months. First, Spring Break begins on Saturday, March 11th and ends on Sunday, March 19th. School will resume on Monday, March 20th. The entire school will be closed for Spring Break.
Students will begin taking some important tests in early April. 11th grade students will be taking the Smarter Balanced Assessments in English and Math beginning on April 4th. Seniors will be tested in science, starting April 11th. The English and Math exams are computer-based tests that will measure students’ progress in meeting the California State Standards.
It is important for students to do their best on these state exams. In addition to the personal satisfaction that comes with doing your best and seeing solid numerical evidence of how much you’ve learned, the data we gain from these tests is very important. We use the data to guide our efforts in finding ways to continually improve our program for the benefit of our students. I encourage all of our students to get a good night’s sleep before each of the tests, and to eat a nutritious breakfast. Doing so will improve your ability to concentrate during the testing sessions.
There are only two credit checks remaining. I look forward to seeing our students make a strong and determined effort to earn as many credits as possible. We are hoping to see many of you at our graduation ceremony on May 23rd!

Operation Clean Sweep
CLEAN SWEEP - ONTARIO POLICE PARTNERSHIP WITH VALLEY VIEW
Valley View High School is proud to introduce a partnership with the Ontario Police Department through Operation Clean Sweep. The philosophy behind Clean Sweep is to work together to reduce juvenile offenses on school campuses, to foster a spirit of cooperation between the police and schools, and to increase campus safety. Administration and Campus Safety Officers are trained to recognize specific juvenile infractions and utilize the Juvenile Citation Program. Students will face a judge who may impose a fine, community service, and/or counseling classes. These penalties are in addition to whatever disciplinary consequences are imposed by the Valley View school administration. Behaviors that can result in a citation are:
Operation Clean Sweep is a multifaceted program that seeks to enhance the security of all students in school while, at the same time, establishing responsibility, discipline, and accountability in respect to student’s actions.
