Hello Valley View Students, Parents, and Community,

The new school year is just around the corner!  The first day of the 2014-15 school year is Wednesday, August 6th.  School will begin at 8:05.  We have high expectations for student success, and hope that you will seize all of the opportunities that a new school year brings.  Our Viking students have the opportunity for success through a number of different paths.  You may want to earn a diploma and graduate from Valley View.  You may want to catch up on credits so you can return to your home school.  You may want to improve your academic skills and prepare yourself for a fulfilling career that comes from post-high school education.  You may wish to put yourself in a good position for graduating from Adult Education or with a GED diploma.  Whatever path works for you, we hope to assist you in achieving your goals.

I’d like to ask our parents and students to take advantage of our career center and the academic guidance our counseling staff can provide.  One thing you can do to make sure you reach your goals is to schedule a meeting with your counselor and develop a plan for success.  Please feel free to stop by the office this summer to speak with Mr. Goldstein or Mrs. Preststater if you have any questions or concerns.  Our counselors will return to work the week before the first day of school.

Schedules will be handed out in your first period class on August 6th.  There will be locator lists posted so you know which class to go to first period.

Parents, it is very important to me that we work together in an effort to make a high school diploma a reality for our students.  I hope you can join us for informational meetings that we will have throughout the school year.  You will receive information about these meetings, but please contact me at any time if you have any questions.

I’m looking forward to a Viking-riffic school year and to making our students’ dreams come true.

I am looking forward to seeing you soon,

Mr. Goldstein
